Coloured radiators join efficiency and aesthetics in renovation Greek apartment

Although white remains the most commonly used colour for radiators, there are times that coloured radiators are simply a better fit. That was certainly the case with the recent renovation of a Greek apartment where our coloured column radiators were integrated in a completely refurbished interior. This allowed for a classic design with a modern twist to be seamlessly combined with an energy-efficient HVAC installation.

Complete renovation

Earlier this year Barault Architects were tasked with the complete renovation of a 190 m2 apartment in Filothei, a suburban town in the Athens agglomeration. The apartment is one of eight in a residential building and had already been renovated once in 2006. This time a complete renovation was required to fit the needs of the family that was going to live there. A new layout was created, which meant tearing down old partition walls and installing new ones. The HVAC system was also completely renewed to be more energy efficient and blend in perfectly with the new interior design.

Louis Barault explains: “We introduced multiple new materials to create the desired atmosphere in this apartment. The combination of wooden floors, wooden panelling, metal and inox details as well as marble surfaces and leather furniture set the tone of the new aesthetics of the space. To create an energy efficient living space, we also replaced the old oil heating system by a condensing gas boiler that heats 13 Purmo radiators in total: 11 Delta column radiators and 2 Flores bathroom radiators.”

The fact that the Delta column radiators are also available in different colours makes them very interesting for a seamless integration in a wide variety of interiors.

The added value of coloured radiators

As an architect Louis has been familiar with our radiator range for some time and particularly appreciates the Delta column radiators for their high heat output and aesthetics. “They combine a classic design with a modern twist and great performance. The fact that these radiators are also available in different colours makes them very interesting for a seamless integration in a wide variety of interiors.”

In the Filothei apartment RAL7022 was used for the column radiators in the living spaces. This ombre grey is a neutral, warm colour that blends in well with the black marble surfaces and wooden elements integrated throughout the open spaces. For the master bedroom and bathroom RAL7006 was used because it is a better match for the colour palette in these rooms. Finally, RAL1023 was selected for the child’s bedroom, as bright sunny yellow is the favourite colour of the family’s son.
