Office heating convinces housing company of the iVector S2 fan convector radiator

No better way to discover the pros and cons of a product than to put it to the test yourself. SWB, a municipal housing company situated in Mülheim an der Ruhr (Germany), is always looking for sustainable and future-oriented solutions to integrate in their apartments. So when they constructed their new commercial property and office building, they saw it as the perfect opportunity to put our iVector S2 fan convector radiator to the test for their office heating. Combined with a heat pump, 18 fan convector radiators now efficiently heat and cool the building to ensure indoor climate comfort year round.

Sustainable office heating and cooling at SWB

As a housing company SWB is committed to sustainability and makes great efforts to achieve the required CO2 neutrality in their portfolio by 2040. On top of the apartments that they build and renovate, they were recently occupied with the construction of a new commercial property and office building for their own use. Needless to say that this new build meets all the current standards when it comes to building regulations and energy efficiency. To heat and cool the building, they opted for a heat pump, which they combined with our iVector S2 fan convector radiator to help optimise the pump’s efficiency.

To find the perfect emitter that could provide sufficient heat output at lower system temperatures, SWB called on us for support. The first step was to calculate the heat demand in the various rooms, based on specifications such as insulation, room type and size, glazing quality, etc. For this, we were able to rely on our heat demand calculator to provide a basis.

As SWB wanted to be able to both heat and cool the 400 m2 of floor space via the central heating system, we advised to install our iVector S2 fan convector radiator. This new generation of fan convectors makes for an ideal combination with a heat pump and offers both heating and cooling functionalities. This way the need for a separate cooling device is eliminated and the return on investment for the heat pump is optimised as it can be used to create a comfortable indoor climate all year round.

The iVector S2 fan convector radiator responds quickly to fluctuations in room temperature. This if very useful in commercial buildings such SWB’s since it allows for rapid heating or cooling of larger spaces without excessive energy consumption.

Thanks to the combination of low water content and a specially designed axial fan, the iVector S2 fan convector radiator responds quickly to fluctuations in room temperature. This if very useful in commercial buildings such SWB’s since it allows for rapid heating or cooling of larger spaces without excessive energy consumption. Moreover, the iVector S2 fan convector offers many installation options, including wall and ceiling mounting but also in-wall and -ceiling installation. The cherry on the cake is the fan technology that makes the fan convector radiator whisper quiet so there is no need to worry about noise levels.

Once the type of emitter was determined, we helped SWB to correctly dimension the 18 iVector S2 fan convector radiators that were planned to be installed. Our iVector calculator tool was very useful for this as it configures heating and cooling calculations. Moreover, it allows users to see performance data and export the calculated data in different formats.

In this case the fan convector radiators are wall-mounted with optional feet. The iVector S2 Auto was selected, which is equipped with an automatic control that controls the functions of the appliance with just a few inputs from the user. The fan speed, for example, is automatically adjusted as required, no manual adaptation is necessary. The control panel is equipped with a memory so no settings are lost, even if the appliance is switched off or if there is a power failure. The operating modes heating and cooling can be selected at the touch of a button.
